The Master of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Leadership (CSSEL) at CIT Schaffhausen combines a research-oriented technological education that also delivers essential management and leadership skills to educate future tech leaders.
The program is delivered in hybrid format via Zoom, where all lectures are recorded (examinations conducted by Proctor). It is possible to pursue the program in hybrid format, depending on the student's flexibility of professional schedule and commitment to pursuing an intense master's degree. In such cases, working professionals would still be expected to come visit campus periodically to meet with professors and/or attend lectures (but not weekly as with full-time students).
Distance students can participate (synchronous) or attend asynchronously, and the former is highly recommended where possible. The online option can also be part-time, yet the curriculum is the same as the full-time MSc. Thus, qualificaitons for admission are identical to the face-to-face format and the study time to completion depends on a high commitmtent of time dedicated to studies.
The CSSEL program includes technical courses in three core subject areas that are currently in high demand globally:
Software engineering
Cybersecurity
Artificial Intelligence
Each student selects one of these three areas as their specialized field of study.
All students are introduced to practical, applied and research-oriented work through a three semester Capstone project. The series spans over three modules during which students develop a complete product from scratch. The project starts with an ideation process, creation of clickable demos, and initial requirements. It continues with the practical creation of a software architecture and development of the solution. It then finishes with application of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
The final semester is dedicated to the thesis, with individual feedback sessions and personal guidance from a faculty member.
