Schaffhausen, Switzerland
Constructor Institute of Technology (CIT), Schaffhausen, Switzerland, is a premier Swiss research institution that provides graduate study in computer science and software engineering (with integrated management courses to prepare tech leaders) at the pre-Master and Master of Science level. Launched in 2019 and with over 50 alumni and growing, CIT is positioned to educate future talents in IT fields which are already in high demand and projected to grow globally, from software engineering to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and quantum informatics, and is conducting research at the forefront of these fields with the aspiration to develop technology transfers. We aim to create technically-savvy managers who are ready to lead at the forefront of software engineering, providing solutions for both industry and society. The Institute also has a PhD program and hosts postdoctoral researchers in related cross-cutting disciplines.
Our Institute is seeking additional talents for 2025 from Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and related disciplines. Our pre-master, Foundations of Information Technology (FIT), delivered online in the Spring semester, is open to non-Computer Science graduates--those from STEM fields like Physics, Mathematics or Engineering, who are enthusiastic about coding--who have demonstrated success in quantitative courses during their bachelor's degree. The FIT serves as a pathway for admission to the Master of Science (or can be pursued as a stand-alone Certificate).
The master's curriculum is designed as a solution to industry needs (computer engineering capacity at the cutting edge of research with a combination of strong entrepreneurial and management skills remain in very high demand worldwide). The standard 2-year "full-time" MSc is 120 credits, comprised of core technical courses (45 ECTS), mangement modules (15 ECTS), leadership & academic skills modules (15 ECTS) an applied Capstone project that spans 3 semesters (15 ECTS) and a final masters thesis (30 credits). Electives are woven into the curriculum, including an optional summer internship. Courses are delivered in a hybrid format (recorded on Zoom), which also allows for part-time enrollment for students in the local region who are within a reasonable 'commute' to Schaffhausen (a part-time pace will extend the studies by a semester or two).
CIT, a registered Swiss education foundation (not for profit). Founded by experienced entrepreneurs and with a curriculum designed and delivered by top academics coming from ETH-Zurich, University of Geneva and USI (Lugano), CIT faculty bring expertise in their disciplines and the highest quality of academic leadership. CIT professors have research chairs in Software Engineering, Quantum Software Engineering, Software Testing and Analysis Research, as well as joint research chairs in Quantum Physics and Quantum Communications. They are authors of multiple distinguished publications in top journals of their respective disciplines, which keeps them at the forefront of these dynamic, fast-changing disciplines. In addition, most have professional experience from industry, including from tech start-ups.
